CHILD HEALTH AND VACCINATION
The following guide shows the
recommended age for your child's

6 weeks Development and well baby

2 months 1st diphtheria, whooping
cough, tetanus, polio and Hib Men C

3 months 2nd immunisations
4 months 3rd immunisations
8 months developmental check
13 months Measles, mumps and rubella
vaccines
24 months Developmental check
4 years 2nd measles, mumps and
rubella vaccines

MATERNITY CARE
There is an antenatal clinic at the
health centre every Monday afternoon
withg the doctors and midwives in
attendance. Postnatal examinations
are carried out on Thursday
mornings.
FAMILY PLANNING
Two or more clinics per week. Normal
surgery appointments for GP
consultation. Contact a practice
nurse for advice or for emergency
contraception – the 'morning after'
pill.
DIABETIC CLINIC
Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Multi-disciplinary care for
non-insulin dependent diabetics.
ASTHMA CLINIC
Held weekly to help in understanding
and self management of asthma and in
the proper use of treatment devices.
Attendance is recommended at least
once a year. Contact a practice
nurse for details.

Appointments are by referral from a
GP.
WELL PERSON CHECK
By appointment with practice nurses.
To promote health and to screen for
certain conditions including
male/female health check, blood
pressure and weight reduction.
CERVICAL SMEARS
We strongly recommend all women
between the ages of 20 and 65, who
have ever been sexually active, to
have a cervical smear every three to
five years dependent on age. We run
frequent cervical smear clinics or
you can book an appointment in
normal surgery hours by do say ' for
a smear'.
If you have a recall it very rarely
means anything serious. Usually it
is because you have a minor
infection or your smear shows
inflammation that requires to be
observed until it settles down.
WART CLINIC
Weekly to treat warts and other
small skin problems. Appointments
after being first seen by a doctor.
TRAVEL CLINIC
Advice and immunisation for foreign
travel. By appointment with the
practice nurse. We are a Yellow
fever Vaccination Centre open to
patients and non-patients.
YELLOW FEVER VACCINATION CENTRE
Langley Health Centre is an approved
Yellow Fever vaccination Centre.
Anyone can make appointments to have
this vaccination for travel. You do
not have to be registered with this
practice. There is a fee for this
vaccination.
VACCINATION CLINICS AGAINST
INFLUENZA
Usually held in October and November
every year.

We encourage people to take part in
our health promotion activities.

MINOR SURGERY
Minor operations for minor skin
lesions (moles, small lumps etc) are
performed by our doctors in the
treatment room (see below) after
they have been assessed for
suitability and an appointment has
been made.
TREATMENT ROOM
Our treatment room is run by the
practice nurses and is used for
routine blood tests, minor surgery,
ECGs, dressings etc. By appointment.
CHIROPODY AND DENTAL CARE
